012-022 / If you fell down yesterday, stand up today

The first three weeks of university has been overwhelmingly stressful. I had an exam in the first week, which I already spoke about in my last post. Every week, I had practicals, which I don't mind as long as they go well. But sadly this isn't usually the case as something goes wrong in the practical, which means writing the report becomes rather difficult. I have 6 practical assignments due in before reading week, and so far, I have only completed one, so there's still a long way to go. If there's one positive thing I can say about practicals is I achieved 70%+ on all practical assignments last term, except for one which I achieved 60%+, which is still good. Then, there's housing issues, which I'll write about once everything is confirmed. Oh, something really ridiculous also happened but luckily you don't need to hear it as I already ranted to my best friends and there's no need to dwell on it anymore. These things don't affect me as badly as they did the first time, because now I'm seeing the humorous side of the situation and I'm taking it as a life lesson.

To balance the negativity of this post, I will be sharing pictures of project 365, which captured the positive things that has happened during the first two weeks of university. Also I got a new lens, the Sigma 17-50mm f2.8 lens, and I've been using it ever since I got it. I absolutely love using the new lens because it has a fast maximum aperture of f2.8 and it produces sharper images. Also, I can zoom and use autofocus (great for taking self timer pictures) with this lens, and I couldn't achieve this with the Nikon 50mm f1.8 lens. The pictures below are mostly taken with the Nikon 50mm f1.8 lens because at the time I still haven't received my new lens yet.

Mon 12th January: Late birthday present to Nailah.

Tues 13th January: Last minute revision for the exam and scribbling words onto the white board to try to make sense of the topic.

Wed 14th January: My exam was finished. I planned to do some work but I went on Youtube instead haha.

Thurs 15th January: Celebrated Maria's birthday that day and the other house of friends came. Ida gave everyone a cute souvenir from Japan.

Fri 16th January: Received free chocolate for attending a volunteer meeting and Anjalee gave me a free nutella sample she received from her workplace.

Sat 17th January: Planned all my practicals dates and deadlines, and completed some lecture notes.

Sun 18th January: A dish I cooked that day: pork and sweetcorn fried rice.

Mon 19th January: Amazon delivered my camera lens and my pharmacology textbook.

Tues 20th January: Accidentally cut myself whilst chopping some vegetables.

Wed 21st January: Ordered this bag from Forever21. I love the design of this bag, but it's not very practical since the zip opening is a little small to fit my camera, so unfortunately I have to return it. If only the zip opening was an inch wider, then it would be a perfect bag.

Thurs 22nd January: I originally wanted to buy a Cath Kidston purse, but I know it will remind me the time that my purse was stolen in China Town. This River Island purse seems good in terms of its design and practicality, and ASOS was having a 20% student discount, so I figured it was a good time to order it.
