023-025 / Why fit in when you were born to stand out

Feb 6, 2015

After one month of not seeing each other due to my hectic exam revision, Wesley and I finally saw each other during the third weekend of January. He came on Friday evening and we spent that evening at home having dinner and watching Big Hero 6, which is so cute and totally in my favourite movies list. Also, funny how Wesley and I brought Ben and Jerry's ice cream for each other without knowing, and it's cute how we think alike.

The next day, we went to London to go to Madame Tussauds. We chose to have lunch at Soho Japan because of its convenient location in Baker street and its fairly close to Madame Tussauds. The waitress got our food order slightly wrong but we decided to leave it since she was busy and looked like the only person working. Anyway it doesn't matter because the food tasted really good and the fact there was a lot of japanese people eating there too shows its a good place to eat. After lunch, we walked over to Madame Tussauds and we stayed there around 2 hours. I really like Madame Tussauds, its more than just about wax figures as other fun things such as SCREAM and the Marvel Supper Heroes 4D movie experience was included too. My favourite part is sitting in a taxi and going through the history of London, which was interesting. The only annoying thing I found with Madame Tussauds was how some people took forever taking pictures or queue jumped. Because of this, my boyfriend and I only took a selection of pictures with a few wax figures. But it's nice seeing people taking selfies with wax figures and how everyone does it differently. Afterwards, we went to Covent Garden and explored the downstairs section. Also, I tried macaroons for the first time and I absolutely love it. Luckily Wesley only brought two or else I would have been addicted to it haha. For dinner, Wesley took me to Busaba Eathai. I had an really good experience because not only did the food taste really good, 50% of our bill was deducted because of a January promotion if you paid using an app.

On Sunday, we stayed at home watching movies. For dinner, we went out to Megna, an Indian restaurant in Englefield Green, the area where I live. On Sunday, they offer a course deal where you choose a starter, a main, a side dish and either rice or naan bread for £10. Wesley and I ordered a selection of food from that deal to share. We thought that the portions sizes might be small with this deal, but it was actually good sized and it was enough to fill us up. Their service was great and the atmosphere was nice too. If you are a Royal Holloway student, or if you are in Egham/Englefield Green, I strongly recommend you to visit this restaurant.

Overexposed this picture slightly because I forgot to adjust the ISO. Captured this picture just before a crowd of people was taking selfies with it.
