The best way to escape from your problem is to solve it

A week ago, I took a special trip to London to meet my friends. The plan that day was to play an Escape game, which you may have heard about as it's becoming increasingly popular as a social event or as a team building exercise. The basic idea is that you have one hour in which you are confined in a room and you have to find a way to escape through finding clues and completing puzzles. There are lots of Escape game available with different styles and story settings. We chose to play Prohibition Pandemonium hosted by Escape Entertainment, as it seemed to be the only Escape game that can accommodate large groups (there was 7 of us) and there were still spaces left on the day we wanted.

The story behind this game was that we are gangs trying to escape from the cops. In order to do so, we had to find a secret back exit through finding clues and unlocking padlocked boxes. There was a phone in the room, which you can use to call for a clue, which we didn't do since there was a minute penalty, or the staff can call us to provide us with clues, which they did quite a few times. Even with clues and with 7 brains, we still had trouble unlocking the boxes, which made us question our stupidity haha. In the end, we managed to reach the secret back room, but we didn't managed to escape since we couldn't unlock the back door. We were so close yet so far!

Personally, I was a little disappointed with the game. I played an Escape game in Manchester before and this game just doesn't beat it. Part of the reason is that this story setting wasn't as interesting or elaborate compared to my first Escape game (infiltrating a military base and stopping a nuclear bomb). But the main reason is how this game didn't have a logical flow, or should I say some of the clues were quite obscure, and it lacked the solving skills aspect. One thing I did like about this Escape game was the opportunity to take photos with props in the end.

Until I succeed, I'll most likely play another Escape game in the future. I heard there's even an Escape game with zombies available. At first thought, I was thinking "omg how cool is that, I would love to do it". But then at second thought, I'll probably be too scared by the zombies to do anything, so it's probably not a good idea after all...
