026-029 / Come live in my heart and pay no rent

Apart from practical reports, housing was an issue that stressed me out so much. This year, I'm currently living with four wonderful girls. Unfortunately, we're not living together next year as one of the girls has decided to commute. The story is rather long to explain why the remaining four of us aren't living together, but in summary, Alex and I are still living together, while the other two girls have separately found a group of housemates to live with. Originally, Alex and I were going to live with two new girls, B and G. But because of issues with price, location and availability to view houses, we didn't join with them in the end. Luckily, one of my course mates had spare rooms in the house she's living in next year. Although the price was over our budget, the location and condition of the house was good, and so we signed the contract.

When it comes to finding a good university housing, there are three things to consider: housemates, house and landlord. Choosing good housemates is a rather obvious point, but it's hard especially when you only known each other for a few months. Finding a good house is another obvious point, but it's complicated with the various factors involved such as price, location, size, and different people have different preferences. You're not going to find the perfect housemates or house, so it's important to compromise and to find the best you can. Having a good landlord isn't really essential but more like a bonus. Also, I haven't used estate agents but I recommend to find private landlords if possible because estate agents charge so much and I feel they are rather inefficient to solving problems.

Finding a good university housing is rather stressful, and it makes me miss my first year university accommodation and living at home, but it's part of the university experience. I'm glad my housing is finally sorted and I'm looking forward to living with a new group of people in a new house next year.

Mon 26th Jan: My housemates gave me some chocolates. This picture is also an accurate depiction of my life of how I'm trying to balance with so many things.

Tues 27th Jan: Stressing about practical reports and housing...

Wed 28th Jan: Conducted a induction presentation along with three other members.

Thurs 29th Jan: Can't remember why I took this photo, but this picture looks cool with the double exposure.
