Barcelona 002 / To wander is to be alive

Sep 14, 2016
The second day of our grad trip was spent exploring central Barcelona. Our first stop was the Barcelona Cathedral. In contrast to the Sagrada Familia, the Barcelona Cathedral was of the traditional gothic architectural style. Both are spectacular structures in their own respect, but personally, I prefer the Sagrada Familia compared to the Barcelona Cathedral due to its uniqueness and colourfulness. We didn't fully explore Barcelona Cathedral as we missed the roof and the cloister (I don't know how we missed it), so I would definitely visit here again for the full experience.

Afterward, we proceeded to wander about and check out some shops along the way. For lunch, at first, we wanted to find a restaurant/cafe since our legs were killing (we still hadn't recovered from wearing heels during summer ball). But we weren't keen on the expensive prices, so we gave up on finding restaurants and decided to go to La Boqueria instead. I wish we thought of this option first because the food was really nice and cheap there.

For the rest of the day, we explored around La Ramblas and Placa Catalunya. At one point, we also visited Santa Maria del Mar, another traditional gothic architectural style structure. We had our first dinner outing that day and it was so nice to try Spanish paella. There's not much else I can say, so here are the photos of that day.

“I wandered everywhere, through cities and countries wide. And everywhere I went, the world was on my side.”
